Individual & Couples Therapist, NIHB Provider

Jason (he/him) is one of our Associate Clinicians and an individual & couples therapist. He is a registered social worker and psychotherapist in good standing with the OCSWSSW (reg# 845488). Known for his direct and transparent approach, clients appreciate his warm and compassionate stance in all sessions. Jason is also an approved NIHB provider for First Nations and Inuit clients. Outside of work, you will find Jason spending spare time with his family and enjoying woodworking in his garage!

Specialization & Clinical Focus:

  • Alcohol and substance use problems, including Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and impulsive behavior patterns that are not congruent with your values in life.

  • ADHD symptoms that prohibit your desire to be productive and achieve goals in life (school, parenting, etc.).

  • Men’s issues such as deconstructing toxic masculinity, understanding unique challenges in fatherhood/parenthood, or challenges with anger management.

  • Indigenous and anti-colonial practice, offering tailored clinical services for NIHB-eligible clients who identify as First Nation or Inuit.

  • Religious trauma and related adversities experienced in your life that are affecting various aspects of your life.

  • Moderate issues of communication, parenting, and other relational challenges in couples, whether in committed relationships or in the process of separation.

  • Adolescent challenges including substance use, excessive video gaming, or internet use, etc.

  • Court-mandated counseling (further consultation required).

Professional Experience:

Jason has over a decade of experience in human and social services in various settings, including roles as a Anglican priest, a manager in a community mental health setting, and a psychotherapist. He had the privilege of working in the most northern communities of Nunavut, where he served remote and isolated communities, gaining a deep understanding of human lives and relational connections.

Education & Training:

Jason earned a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Carleton University, a Master of Arts (MA) in Religious Studies from Université Laval in Quebec City, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from the University of Toronto. Following his graduate studies, Jason also obtained a Certificate of Addiction Studies from McMaster University. Additionally, he has completed various training courses and programs, including but not limited to:

  • Motivational interviewing (MI)

  • Narrative therapy and community practice

  • Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness & meditation based practice

  • Trauma-informed approaches

Professional or Clinical Memberships:

Jason maintains an active professional membership with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).

Clinical Supervision:

Jason is currently receiving an ongoing external clinical supervision and participates in peer group consultations for professional development.
